U16s first defeat in the league for over 12 months!

FT Littletown FC 4 – 3 Woodkirk Valley FC

Before this game both teams hadn’t meet before, and neither team had any idea of what to expect.

Both teams looked to have a great warm up routine with the sun out on a lovely Sunday afternoon, preprations were well underway for both sets of players.

Kick off arrived and both teams started well with the Littletown taking the lead, and the visitors Woodkirk equalise within minutes.

The game was a physical one and both sets of players looked like they wanted to win this feisty battle. Littletown scored before the break, and went into half time a goal to the good.

HT Littletown FC 2 – 1 Woodkirk Valley FC

Within minutes of the restart Woodkirk were back into it 2-2.

Littletown took the lead threw a goal that was clearly off-side and it was laughable at best but it stood.

With 5 minutes to go Woodkirk thought they had done enough when they equalised 3-3 with only a minute to go, moments later a goal mouth scramble, pin ball machine springs to mind Littletown pinched a winner.

A fair result to both teams was a draw, but wasn’t to be for the visitors.

A great contest with two physical teams that deserved better from the referee who might have been a little in-experienced to deal with the energetic spirit of both team, being a Littletown U17 player.

Well done to both teams.
