Girls excel with call up from Regional Talent Clubs (RTC)

Five players have been successful after trials to attend Regional Talent Clubs (RTC) in our region.

Beth Walsh-U14 Leeds United Ladies

Jenna Thompson– U14 Leeds United Ladies

Grace Stott– U10 Leeds United Ladies

Ellie Foster– U10 Leeds United Ladies

Izzy Mcginty– U10 York City

The growth of the game over the past 10 years for girls and women has been incredible, both within the domestic and international remit. Due to the ever changing landscape of the game, the FA have reviewed their current infrastructure ensuring that the pathway meets the demands of producing talented players to compete on an international stage.

The Regional Talent Club (RTC) programme includes greater support to clubs who are working with the most talented players. The FA Girls’ Centre of Excellence programme proved that clubs require the opportunity to grow and develop at different rates according to their maturity, as well as the grassroots infrastructure beneath them.

Phil Cook, Football Development Officer said, “This is a fantastic achievement for the five players involved and credit must go to the age groups managers and coaches. The clubs girls section has grown over the years with our U13’s being West Riding League Champions for the 3rd year running. The 2017 season was completed with the age group becoming Tees Valley Champion”
