U16′s………LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!

Woodkirk traveled  to Netherton for the final game of the season only needing a draw with Netherton needing to win this game plus there remaining 4 to snatch the title from Woodkirk.  With the heavy rain over the last week the pitch was surprisingly in good condition.  The game was very close and end to end with both keepers making some great saves and both teams missing a number of chances,  the game was played in a great spirit considering what was at stake.  With only 2 minutes remaining a nice move from Woodkirk saw the ball slipped through for Jack Casey to calmly take one touch away from the defender and 20 yards out fired a clean strike across the keeper and the ball rifled into the bottom corner. Jack set off on a lap of honour taking off his shirt being chased by the rest of the squad and the victory and the title was secure. Netherton just had chance to kick off as the referee blew his whistle for full time.

Congratulations to the squad: Jacob Tabor (Capt) Scott Metcalfe (Vice Captain) Ben Rhodes GK (Club Captain)  Sam Rooke, Tom Cullinane, Lee Swithenbank, Jack Casey, Joe Greatorex, Matthew Speke, Reece Miller, Tom Gray, Dominic Wright, Jack Caden, Dylan Bradley.
A big Thank you to the parents who have shown great support for the lads both home and away and have helped run the tuck shop and set up nets and flags.  A great effort all round.
